My metamorphosis from mosaic artist to (some other kind of) artist is finally complete! It’s been a difficult process, (and still is) rather like being born again having shed a skin I wasn’t sure I wanted to shed. Having worked as a professional mosaic artist for 30 years, even through the financial struggles I knew who I was. I lived and breathed mosaic, I had coloured glass and grout in my bones, and I had the perseverance and patience of a saint! It took time to finish a mosaic, endless time.
It wasn’t a sudden transformation, it happened over time. I always found I loved the design process, the scribbles and sketches that became ideas for new mosaics, the paintings made for clients to illustrate the planned work.
Then during lockdown I moved back to Devon (my home land) from Somerset and discovered an old set of Lino print tools in my moving boxes…
