Creative Commission Brief – Killerton House, Exeter

We are looking for an artist to create an artwork that responds to a display of objects on the ground floor of Killerton House, each chosen by people connected to Killerton. The working title of this display is ‘Our Killerton’. These people could include our volunteers, our staff, our visitors, and local community groups connected to Killerton, like Inclusive Exeter. These groups will have chosen these objects by responding to the prompt; ‘Objects can evoke memories, emotions and personal interests. What object at Killerton House speaks to you and why?’

You will lead a series of workshops with a variety of these people, to create an artwork exploring the themes of community at Killerton and the people-led stories behind its objects. This commission will put our collections in dialogue with these new perspectives to celebrate Killerton’s relevance to people today.

Deadline for applications is the end of October 2025.
