Extended Bio

Frances Carter, founder of Sea View Art Barn is known as ‘Frances Margaret' who was best known for sculptures of horses back in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Her work was sold internationally via commissions and galleries and can still be found in The Art House Gallery in St Ives. Her largest sculpture is of a WW11 pilot which can be seen at the entrance to Exeter Airport and has been there since 201. Following a fallow period of producing work Frances has concentrated on turning the outbuildings at Sea View Farm into an Art Barn. The dream being to develop a centre for the promotion, enjoyment and participation of art and well being. Bronzes will be displayed as well as some naive paintings produced in the last few years. Phil Creek. SWAc (Hon), NAPA. Phil worked as County Art Adviser for Devon until 2011. He is now a full-time painter living in East Devon. Phil’s painting explores the landscapes and seascapes of the southwest of England. He often paints en plein air, on the beach or in the landscape, Phil also undertakes his gouache and larger acrylic paintings in his recently converted home studio. Phil can be contacted by email at [email protected] Julie Dunster is an award-winning oil painter, tutor and official Artist Magazine contributor, passionate about painting from life - keen to capture a landscape’s light, a marine scene’s mood, a portrait’s emotion or still life’s story. She exhibits alongside major London Art Societies and has gallery representation in Devon and Dorset. Artist Penny Silverthorne, known for her floral watercolours, is now exploring a looser style with abstract landscapes, focusing on colour and texture. She is also passionate about illustrating children's books, where her watercolour techniques create light-hearted, whimsical images that capture the imagination. Cards, prints and children's books will be available to buy. Alison Summerfield BA, SWAc (Hons) paints in oils, although charcoal and inks are often employed in her work. She revels in the physical and instinctive process of working with the paint, using both knife and brush. Her paintings are predominantly an emotional reaction to nature, the landscape and coast. She has worked for various art publications. In addition to private sales her paintings sell in galleries across the South West. www.alisonsummerfield.com
