Artist statement
In the technology focused society that we live in, my artwork invites a sense of playfulness and curiosity, encouraging a deeper engagement with the world around us. My tactical sculptures and intricate drawings are reminiscent of root systems and nerve pathways, reflecting my fascination with the recurring patterns that bridge the human and natural worlds.
Extended Bio
I am an emerging artist, working primarily in ceramics and drawing. My practice explores themes of play, touch, and the uncanny. In an increasingly digital and technology-driven society, I look to experiences found in my local natural settings of Devon as inspiration, creating organically tactile works that invite interaction and curiosity.
Through my ceramic sculptures and intricate drawings, I explore organic forms reminiscent of root systems and nerve pathways. These recurring patterns reflect my fascination with how the human and natural worlds intertwine. They represent growth and the uncanny familiarity found in everyday life and in the natural world. By making work that is meant to be touched and explored, I hope to create moments of connection, play and grounding.
Experimentation is central to my practice, both in process and presentation. Increasingly, I am drawn to exhibiting my work in natural outdoor settings, where the environment becomes part of the experience. By expanding the scale and context of my installations, I aim to create sensory encounters that resonate physically and emotionally.
I studied a Fine Art Foundation Diploma at Exeter School of Art in 2018, before moving to London to complete a BA in Fine Art Drawing at University of the Arts London, Camberwell College of Arts, graduating in 2022. Since then, I have shown in galleries including Southwark Park Gallery in London and Studio KIND in North Devon.
