Artist statement
Most of my current work is mixed media. I like to use a mix of mediums to capture the light and colours of the landscape and sea. I am inspired by the constant change in colours in the ancient woodlands and Jurassic coast around me . Using collage helps to achieve a more abstracted impression of the colours of the landscape.
Extended Bio
Having spent most of my life as photographer I completed a degree in Fine Art as a (very) mature student in 2011. Since then I have been developing my art practice; although I love watercolour most of my current work is mixed media. I like to use a mix of mediums to capture the light and colours of the landscape and sea. I am inspired by the constant change in the ancient woodlands around me and the ever changing colours of the sea around the Jurassic coast.
It is the colours and the mood of the scene in front of me rather than the pure detail that interests me. The use of collage and mixed media allows a looser and more abstracted approach
