Artist statement

My work sits between figurative and abstract. Still life and landscape in oils and mixed media. Inspiration taken from 20 th century artists Joan Eardley, Diebenkorn and Ivon Hitchens. Translating what I see, not copying the subject. An emotional response using colour and mark making.
