Artist statement

Henrietta works in charcoal, graphite, pastel and oils. She studied sculpture and ceramics and worked for 23 yrs in the creative industries until returning to her studio work in 2014. She was joint winner in 2014 of the Thoresby Open Art Competition and recently on the extended longlist Jacksons Art Prize 2025. Landscapes & figurative.

Extended Bio

Henrietta currently teaches art to adults, she offers private tutoring and courses/workshops. Her studio is located in Poltimore where visitors are welcome anytime by appointment. She is a member of CROW, Exeter and CAMP, Devon. She studied Fine Art at Edinburgh College of Art, transferring to Nova Scotia Canada to finish her degree. She has worked in the creative industries for over 23 years before training to teach. She taught in justice at HMP Lincoln, establishing an Art Academy for Mental Health and to engage learners into education. Her drawings and paintings are developed from surrounding landscapes, recorded in drawings made en plein air and worked in studio, often in series, these works act as metaphors for her personal experiences from relocating, family and motherhood. Recently Henrietta is developing more figurative work, connecting the human experience to landscape.
