Extended Bio
Step beyond the ordinary and into Flameworks, a thriving creative hub on the banks of the River Tamar. Home to a diverse community of professional artists, makers, and craftspeople, our studios are alive with the sound of hammers on metal, the glow of molten glass, and the delicate shaping of clay. This is where ideas take form, tradition meets innovation, and raw materials are transformed into extraordinary works of art.
During Open Studios, you’ll have the rare opportunity to step inside these working spaces, meet the talented individuals behind the craft, and witness their processes up close. From lampworking and glass casting to blacksmithing, ceramics, jewellery-making, stained glass, leatherwork, and industrial design, Flameworks is a place where creativity knows no bounds.
Our studio holders are skilled artisans, each with a unique approach to their craft. Watch intricate glass beads being shaped in the flame, see red-hot steel forged into striking forms, and admire the timeless elegance of hand-crafted jewellery. Experience the artistry behind finely detailed ceramics, beautifully designed stained glass, and bold, industrial-inspired lighting. Discover unique upcycled canvas bags, thoughtfully crafted from repurposed materials, blending sustainability with style. Be captivated by stunning wood and resin tables, where natural grains and rich colors merge into striking functional art.
Whether you’re an art enthusiast, collector, or just curious to see what happens behind the scenes, this is your chance to engage with makers, hear their stories, and take home something truly unique.
Creativity lives here. Come and be part of it!
