Flameworks, Plymouth’s longest running creative arts workshops and studios, has launched its Crowd Funder with an event at Cafe Momus on Saturday 11th November to raise £15,000 in funds so it can Rain Proof the Roof.
‘Rain Proof the Roof’ Launch Party – Saturday 11th November – Cafe Momus
Flameworks and RHYTHM teamed up to host a music and art event at Cafe Momus.
For those that are not familiar with Cafe Momus, it is a large space with a number of areas spread over two floors allowing for a creative extravaganza of art, craft and music.
From 4pm – 9pm Flameworks artists, directors and staff were on site to answer questions about Flameworks, the Crowd Funder and its rewards. The Crowdfunder pledge rewards were on show along with an exhibition of arts and crafts from studio holders and associate members. A fabulous opportunity to buy a christmas gift or two.
From 5pm-8pm there was a Trad Folk Session from Plymouths finest folk musicians playing traditional celtic tunes.
Please keep the crowdfunding going. Link here: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/flameworks-rain-proof-the-roof
Thank you.

Studios and workspaces are getting wet
Flameworks was established in May 2000 at 7 Richmond Walk in Devonport. At some point in the past before our occupation, an extension was built on to the side of the original workshop. Time has not been kind to this extension and its flat roof. Over the years there have been patch jobs and make-do repairs which have extended the life of the roof but it now needs a significant repair. As you can imagine, and know, when it rains in Plymouth it pours and this tired, old patched up flat roof and its teeny tiny gully are not able to sustain the seemingly increasing volumes of rain. The often torrential downpours are running into the upstairs studios and the communal ceramics workshops underneath.
