My journey as an artist is like setting sail on uncharted seas.
For 15 years I have embraced watercolour and acrylics, where each stroke of the brush is a step towards discovering oneself. I love the marks that paint makes and the spontaneity it can give with the mixing of colours. It's about exploring different mediums,techniques and styles that resonate with me. I try to work loosely to capture the beauty and joy of nature in our natural world that you see everyday surrounding us. The simplicity of a flower to the complexity of how trees have grown and been bent by the wind. I love painting the sea in all its moods from the still calm waters of reflections, to the glory of a wild storm. Animals and birds are also great fun to paint, especially their faces as I try to capture their expressions.
I have exhibited overseas in the Middle east while my Husband was working there and where I also undertook commission work.
Having moved to Dartmoor about a year ago I now find the wild beauty of Dartmoor is proving very inspiring with the ever changing mood of the moors and sky.
Ultimately my goal is to create art that connects with others evoking a sense of joy and calmness every time they look at the art piece.
