I am a contemporary Fine Artist and Art Tutor based on West Dorset and East Devon border. I have worked as a professional artist and art tutor since graduating in Fine Art BA Hons in 1999.
I create paintings inspired by the landscape and seasonal changes, working in oils, watercolour and acrylics. My art begins as en plein air sketches and photos, before I explore my ideas further in the studio. This develops the expressive and imaginative qualities of my art as I remove myself from the original source. I love to explore mark making, colour and light. People often comment on the vibrancy and atmosphere in my paintings. My art celebrates nature and my experience of it, capturing a moment of awe and spiritual connection.
I exhibit and sell my work regularly and I was a finalist in the International Open Art Competition, Dorset in September 2024. In 2022 I was selected to participate with my painted sculpture in Paws Around Exeter art trail on behalf of Ferne Animal Sanctuary.
During the open studios I will be sharing a space with fellow landscape artist Vivienne Littley at Hills Farm Arts Centre. We will be painting during the event, so you will be able to see how we create paintings first hand when you visit.
I will be displaying and selling original paintings, limited edition prints and cards. My sketchbooks will be on display which will give you an insight how my ideas are formed and explored. There will also be a ‘come and have a go’ table where you can create your very own charcoal drawings from images of the local coastline.
Hills Farm is situated in the beautiful countryside, with stunning views across the valley to the sea. There is plenty of free parking, a café serving freshly cooked food, opportunities for walks and dogs are welcome. There are other studios participating nearby in Colyton and Honiton. The stunning coast of Seaton and Lyme Regis are approx. 15 minutes away by car and are well worth a visit.
