Welcome to my creative world! I’m Susie, a Devon-based artist and the founder of The Illustrarium. My work is a celebration of nature, storytelling, and the beauty of handmade artistry. I am inspired by nature, history and literature with a passion for colour.
Each piece begins as a hand-rendered sketch, often drawn in pencil, before being brought to life with watercolours, coloured pencil, or gouache. To translate my artwork onto products, I refine and enhance my designs digitally in photoshop, preserving the warmth and originality of my hand-drawn motifs while transforming them into intricate, captivating patterns.
My portfolio spans a variety of creations, including vibrant watercolour paintings, intricately detailed illustrations, and eco-friendly products such as notebooks, bookmarks, and art prints - all inspired by themes of adventure, transformation, and our connection to nature. Sustainability is a core value in my creative process, and I use FSC-certified materials wherever possible to ensure my work is both beautiful and kind to the planet.
