Ermington
Ivybridge drawing, installation, mixed media, painting, paper, printmaking, sculpture South HamsSara explores her heritage through object, story and historical research. She retells glimpses of a familial
trail which recalls the past as she investigates memory,
the fragility of human connections and the passage of time.
Personal belongings and documents become the vehicle for content. Sara uses hand-based printing techniques such as monoprint and paper lithography, together with layers of ink, graphite and charcoal drawings. Recently she has been making paper sculptures of shoes which represent the absence of her ancestors. She works intuitively with the imagery of personal letters, family stories, photographs and handed-down paraphernalia to create delicate and intriguing works.
The results are physical representations of what is remembered, what is held, lost, transformed and marked within.
Sara also teaches printmaking and mixed media workshops from her studio in Ermington. Please contact her for details or if you would like to view her work.
