My Ceramic sculptural pieces are part of an ongoing body of work exploring the human face—how it is shaped by the mind and altered by external influences. Each piece is crafted from black unglazed stoneware clays. The texture of the clay allows for intricate detailing, bringing subtle expression and emotion to the surface.
My current practice is deeply rooted in the connection between the human mind and its physical expression. I’m interested in how our mental and emotional states manifest in the body, and how feeding both mind and body can lead to a sense of inner and outer peace. The sculptures aim to reflect both the solidity and the fragility that we all experience throughout our lives.

Creating these works has also deepened my understanding of the unique properties of different clays, as well as the delicate nature of a single firing process. This unpredictability mirrors the creative journey itself—sometimes uncontrollable, always evolving.
I’m based just outside of Totnes and have spent the past ten years developing my creative practice, working with a wide range of materials. I prefer to use natural materials wherever possible, allowing the work to remain grounded in its connection to the earth.
