Heather (Hajah) Tetley Bio

My work is inspired by the nature that surrounds us, the element of water the wonderful life & shapes of river and sea.
There is something about silver which is very akin to water, although of course the freezing point is higher, silver is still a frozen liquid. In my designs I work freely with the accident of the point when silver begins to unfreeze. This creates the texture within the structure of strong flowing design and strong construction, using silver, gold and semi precious stones, combined with the Earth qualities of Jasper & other polished & unpolished minerals.
I studied silversmithing & jewellery design at Hornsea College of Art in the 1960s, subsequently winning jewellery design awards & specialising in commissioned wedding & engagement rings, before changing course to develop conservation practices for treatment of carpets in Historic Interiors for such as the National Trust & Royal Collection.
Designing & making jewellery is a wonderful personal creative satisfaction…
