I'm a 'newly-emerging artist' ex 'mature student' having recently completed a Fine art BA and MA at UWE Bristol including a 6 month exchange to ESADMM Marseille. My primary medium is oil paint on panel or canvas. Through contemporary realist works, which span portrait, genre, landscape, still life, and installation, I seek to explore the themes of the quotidian existence, of finding space and identity in the world, of seeing and being seen.
Often, and preferred, my substrates are reclaimed material, especially wooden panels and found artefacts. The counterplay between image and artefact for me encompass the immediacy of the presence of the art object. To further the physical affect, painted works have sometimes combined to form larger installations.
Alongside that primary thread, drawing, digital photography, and experimental analogue photography support that painting practice.
