CHAMELEON ART AND CRAFT by HARRIET GREEN, BA (Hons)
I discovered the delights of using gold leaf while learning the craft of bookbinding. I found an interesting and unique way of using this medium and other metal leaf to create some stunning and original artwork, known as The Alchemy Collection. I create medium to large panels on plywood or canvas, using acrylics and metal leaf (including faux gold leaf, 22ct gold leaf, silver, aluminium, or copper leaf) as well as metallic paint, with shellac or wax finishes. One commissioned piece hangs in The Krug Room (Head Chefs private dining room) at The Dorchester Hotel, London.
I make my handmade books, journals and sketchbooks in my garden studio and sell them at craft shows or via my Folksy online shop. I have recently enjoyed painting watercolours (portraits, flowers, landscapes) and making watercolour notecards, taking inspiration from my garden, walks on Dartmoor or visits to National Trust properties. I enjoy taking photographs of nature, animals and birds in all seasons.
