Amelia Webster Bio

Amelia Webster is a contemporary realist portrait painter, focused on presenting authenticity and presence in oil. Based in Chudleigh, Devon, Amelia graduated from BA (Hons) Painting, Drawing and Printmaking in Plymouth in 2017 where Amelia began her journey as a portrait painter striving to create portraits of everyday people, highlighting the beauty in the ordinary and presenting their narrative. Amelia creates her portraits in oils, using a diverse palette which she routinely analyses but also has a strong affinity to drawing and charcoal. Amelia was Inspired by Renaissance art at an early age – the technical side of painting but also the storytelling, therefore Amelia strives to preserve these traditions of portraiture in her work but in a modern context.

Most notably Amelia has featured on Portrait artist of the year 2019, a finalist on the woman painter prize 2022, a finalist in the British art prize 2022 and longlisted for the Herbert Freehills smith portrait award in 2024.
