I am a mosaic artist who combines traditional materials and techniques with contemporary images and ideas. Even as a child I was fascinated by the mosaics I saw in shop doorways or swimming pools but it wasn't until after I left art college that I realised I could actually make my own.
I love to find new materials to use in my work, these range from discarded bike cogs, and ceramic shards found on the beach, to a new colour or texture of mosaic tile.
This love of materials has also led me to experiment with tin, an art form not usually associated with this country. I add cold enamel and crystals for detail and glass paints that are transparent and allow the metal to shine through.
