Artist statement

Each sculpture is a celebration of balance, connection, and the quiet strength found in nature. Cast in enduring bronze, these works immortalize real stone stacks — moments of delicate equilibrium where each rock supports the next. The material speaks of permanence, weight, and timelessness, while the form captures a fleeting harmony. No piece stands alone

Extended Bio

Based in the UK, Richard Balman is a sculptor known for his elemental bronze works that explore balance, permanence, and transformation. With over 15 years of experience in metalwork and casting, Richard founded The Lost Foundry to create his own large-scale work and help other artists realize theirs. His most personal series — Beauty in balance — captures ephemeral moments of harmony in solid bronze. Each stack is a metaphor for support, trust, and the interconnectedness of all things. His work often draws from nature, using traditional casting techniques to give weight and timelessness to fleeting forms. Richard’s practice is rooted in craftsmanship, patience, and curiosity — combining ancient materials with modern intent. Whether creating public artworks or intimate castings, his work invites reflection, touch, and quiet awe.
