Artist statement

Through my art practice I endeavour to find joy in a flow state. My painted collages form abstract treasure maps. These works encapsulate illustrated botanicals and ephemera, with metallic details. I love to watch an image emerge. To draw enables me to simplify the world. In my home studio I surround myself with foraged findings, and all my creations.

Through my art practice I endeavour to find joy in a flow state. I create to escape the everyday, and to understand my environment. I build layers of mixed media including paint, oil pastels, fiber, and wax. My latest collection is made up of painted collages of illustrated botanicals and findings that form abstract treasure maps. I have used exiting colour combinations, hidden messages, and fine line work. These works encapsulate memories and ephemera, with gentle jewel-like details. I find inspiration from my materials leads and this leads me through to the process of making. I love to watch an image emerge. Being physical with my hands gives me energy. Drawing enables me to simplify a busy world. My home studio is in Tavistock, Dartmoor. I surround myself with my curated foraged findings, my sketchbooks, reference books and all my favourite work and materials.
