Artist statement
I paint in oil mixed with cold wax in a semi-abstract or abstract style.
My paintings celebrate views on and from Dartmoor, the rivers and seascapes of Devon and nearby areas. The peace and quiet of the moors, the tranquillity and force of the water are all depicted in my work.
Extended Bio
I am a designer by profession having spent more than 35 years working in architecture, interiors, and furniture design, I recently started painting in late 2022.
Having spent most of my life living between the moors and coast my paintings are inspired by the ever-changing light and colour of the surrounding Devon countryside.
They are painted intuitively, empowering the viewer to interpret their own imagery and stories.
Being a designer constrained by rigid lines and practicality the paintings are a way for me to break free from these restrictions.
