Extended Bio
Belinda Reynell: Painting
Belinda is an acclaimed contemporary landscape artist who resides and works in Devon. She immerses herself in the landscape where she finds freedom and a love of space. Subsequently she works in her studio employing her sentiments and a sense of the place to create her art.
Esme Cooper: Textiles and Print
Textile Designer hand printing designs onto natural fabrics. Using fabrics to make into Lampshades, table runners and other household items.
Gilly Haysom: Domestic and decorative pottery
I enjoy throwing, working mainly in stoneware and using a restricted palette of satin and matt glazes. By pouring, sponging, dipping, wax resist, flicking and combining I can create a range of surface patterns and finishes, whilst keeping harmony in my work. To me pottery is about the visual and the tactile. The fit of a cup in the hand, the line of a candle stick, the colours that merge and separate.
Jane Welsh. Basketwork
Jane Welsh is a professional basket maker based in Mid Devon, working and teaching throughout the South West. She uses the traditional 'stack and strand' method of basketry.
Jess Davies. Printmaking
Jess Davies is a printmaker who primarily works in reduction lino prints. In her work she looks to the beauty of the Devon landscape, but also how it holds the marks and shaping of the human hand on the land.
Joanne Roper. Printmaking
Joanne Roper is a printmaker in Mid-Devon who spends time in the natural world noticing little things and fascinating details about local wildlife. She brings the joy and energy of birds, plants and habitats into her bold and colourful linocuts and collagraphs.
Laurel Keeley. Ceramics
I am an established maker, working with stoneware and porcelain clays, both hand built and thrown, one clay balancing the other to create form and richness of surface.
My work is a simplification of the world in which I live, experience made tangible between the base and rim of a form you can hold in your hands.
Liese Webley. Painting
Liese is an abstract painter based in Exeter. Each painting has gone on a unique journey which can have taken weeks, months, and even years to resolve. Rich in layers and with an authentic surface, each painting has its own story to tell; their history only fully appreciated in the flesh as these layers reveal themselves. Inspired by her local coastline, obsessed by colours and shapes she sees around her.
Owen Williams. Painting and Illustration
Owen Williams is a Devon-based painter and illustrator. He works predominantly in oils, portraying the beautiful landscapes of Devon and Cornwall from sketches created whilst walking along the lanes and coastal paths.
Owen feels completely at home in the countryside but is drawn to the juxtaposition of industrial buildings and machinery with hedgerows, lanes and rich red earth. Owen's focus is in shaping forms by painting the negative space around them while playing with limited colour palettes.
Paul McCullough. Mixed Media and installation
Attracted by the relationship between music and the visual arts, I use musical structure and theory as a template for making visual compositions, incorporating chance marks and objects organised within an elaborately prepared space.
Patrick Leach. Painting
I paint landscapes and narratives that have the underlying themes of transience and alienation
Ruth Oakley. Painting and Drawing
My work is from observation of our natural environment. It is both salutary and celebratory.
Steve Symes. Woodworking
Creating handmade wood items. Solid wood items of various types, e.g. jewellery boxes, memory boxes.
Sarah Holder. Ceramics and Mixed Media
I primarily make ceramics but my training and experience are an eclectic mix, having been trained in Textile Design and Fine Arts majoring in Ceramics and having worked in theatre props and wig making. My principal motivation is the making itself rather than the materials. The Inspiration from nature, the landscape and my garden remain a constant whichever medium I use. Currently I am experimenting with papier mache and mixed media.
