Extended Bio
After 30 years of dabbling in ceramics I am now dedicating more time to improve my skills and produce different styles of plates, inspired by a very small studio in Istanbul. I prefer to show off the clay, rather than several layers of glaze and am working on producing larger sculptural forms that combine black clay with vibrant colour. Alex Thompson
Drawing is fundamental to me. I continually return to this as I work. Paintings are in oil on board or canvas and come out of the surrounding landscapes and my drawing studies. My style is abstract expressionist and I experiment with colour, brushstrokes and composition. My inspirations are Frankenthaler, Gauguin, Munch to name a few.
