Regeneration

Event Date: 16th Apr 2022 - 7th May 2022

Artizan Gallery welcomes Andy Cairns and his artworks that exhibit a love and passion for found objects.

Recycling is central to Andy’s art – rescuing materials that have been abandoned, valuing them, and giving them a new sense of purpose. He believes that waste is one of the worst aspects of society – wasting the potential of many people as well as our resources. Working in assemblage – bringing together different elements to create interesting juxtapositions and harmonies – he is particularly interested in developing the stories that objects want to tell when combined together, be they historical, biographical or imaginary.

Andy is drawn to old, corroded, weathered materials and artefacts, finding that when materials and artefacts that have a history embedded in their surfaces come together there is a tremendous chatter and creative energy as they begin to weave new narratives in unexpected ways. He tries to capture this chatter in his work, configuring the individual elements into a composition that sets off creative narratives in the mind of the viewer.

Regeneration runs from 16th April – 7th May with a private viewing on 15th April 6 – 8 pm. For more information on the exhibition visit https://www.art-hub.co.uk/ex/regeneration22  or to join us for the launch visit https://www.art-hub.co.uk/events-1/april22pv
