Online Drawing Development Year – Royal Drawing School

Designed by artists, for artists, the Online Drawing Development Year (ODDY) is an innovative new course that has been devised to allow arts graduates and those with a developing studio practice, to benefit from live online drawing tuition and a structured critical dialogue with tutors, mentors, and peers over the course of three terms.

Flexible and part-time, students will be able to curate their own programme of courses each term, allowing for a balance between work, studio time and other commitments. Delivered online, the course also suits those who live outside of the UK or have specific access needs.

We welcome applications from artists with practices in fine art, sculpture, photography, architecture, illustration, animation, design, fashion and textiles who feel they would benefit from an opportunity to develop their visual language through drawing.

Applications close on 5th September 2023, to start January 2024.

Our upcoming online open day will be on 23rd August, 6-7pmBook your place here

Hear from students:

“I am based in the Netherlands and for me, it’s the only way I could fit such an intensive course into my weekly schedule. The students are dotted around Europe and further afield, which gives a great mix of perspectives on drawing and art.” Iain Richardson, ODDY 2023

“The opportunity to learn remotely was what first caught my attention. Living in Shetland really inspires me and sustains my creative interests, I couldn’t imagine moving away! The Royal Drawing School’s emphasis on process-specific learning through such a breadth of drawing disciplines was really appealing, and something Icouldn’t access locally. Being able to structure your own timetable was also exciting.” Aimee Labourne, ODDY 2023

“This course has enabled me to form relationships and open up conversations about all aspects of being a practising artist.” Nancy Watts, ODDY 2023
