Vivienne Littley Bio

Vivienne Littley moved from Surrey to Kilmington, East Devon in 2007 with her two daughters. She has always been interested in art, but the inspiration to start painting in a professional capacity came with relocating, drawing inspiration from the stunning Jurassic coastline and ever-changing skies. Vivienne is a self taught artist, and has attended art classes for over 10 years.

Vivienne's artwork is wonderfully diverse, ranging from intricate pen and ink portraits, to large, abstract acrylic canvases. Her paintings have a calm, often ethereal, non literal quality. The intention is to convey an atmosphere that brings a sense of peace and tranquility, an escape from the everyday. The harmonies between sky and water and the intense power contained within are what the artist is drawn towards. Vivienne uses acrylics, inks and watercolours, often utilising the effects of iridescent and metallic mediums to create light and depth that varies when viewed from different angles. For this reason, the paintings need to be seen in person to be appreciated in full.

Vivienne’s artwork has been displayed in various venues throughout Devon, Dorset, Hampshire, Somerset and Surrey. This will be Vivienne's first year exhibiting in the Devon Open Studios, alongside landscape artist, Trudi Ochiltree. Both artists will be selling original paintings, limited edition prints, cards and coasters. Hills Farm Arts Centre in Kilmington will be hosting the exhibition. Hills Farm is situated in the beautiful countryside, with stunning views across the valley to the sea. There is plenty of free parking, a restaurant, spa, pilates studio, and even a dog park. There are other studios participating nearby at Colyton and Honiton. The stunning coast of Seaton and Lyme Regis are approx 15 minutes away by car.
