I love painting a range of subjects but am drawn to 3 main areas: Figure painting, the Seaside and Still Life. Most of my paintings have people in them and I like to imagine the possible story behind the scene. I love arranging things into a pleasing composition, whether people on the beach or objects for a still life painting.
People wearing hats are a fascinating subject to me, contemporary and from bygone ages when hats were fashionable. Beach scenes are brilliant to paint– so much scope for colour and all the different activities going on. And living so close to the sea painting the sea itself is an irresistible challenge.
My most recent work is in acrylic and some mixed media, and I like to experiment with different techniques. Bright colours and light and shadow are what excite me most about painting.
