I grew up on the edge of Dartmoor, a vast wilderness that has been unconsciously the inspiration for my work. In my early twenties I was offered work in Rome as a fashion designer working in the dizzying world of couture and high fashion. This was very much part of my life for the following twenty years although I’ve always painted and kept sketch books.
For the past ten years I’ve been back in my studio ripping, sticking, painting and drawing with whatever I could find as my medium of choice. I loved breaking rules even as a child. I was and still am excited to see something interesting evolve from a random stroke or splash. Working with a happy accident to produce the unexpected.
