Celebrated for her floral watercolours, artist Penny Silverthorne has built up a range of stationery and prints. The company Silverthorne Designs was established in 1987 and has thrived in the years since, and grown from a cottage industry to a booming business, exporting art and gift stationery worldwide . Penny`s commissions have included designs for major high street stores and the artwork for a Laura Ashley calendar Also other commissions have included calendars and cards for Charles Salmon Publishers, card designs for Colcards, and mug designs for Dunoon Mugs.
In later years Penny has developed her painting in a looser style and is enjoying turning her hand to landscapes, seeing them in a more abstract fashion, trying to portray the feel of the landscape with colour and texture.
Her latest passion is illustrating children's books where the watercolours lend themselves to light hearted images for all to enjoy.
