Plymouth furniture, metal, mixed media, sculpture PlymouthI like to think that, as I can find no other word more suitably descriptive, my work is quite eclectic. Drawing influences from a wide and varied range of sources and experiences. A grasshopper mind perhaps, that leaps from one place to another making creative connections. Arguably more broad than deep perhaps, but that seems to be my way. Some formative experiences include: a childhood in the southern USA, a Fine Art sculpture BA, a visit to Florence and seeing Renaissance Art in the real that blew my mind, a short but intense spell of working in Zimbabwe, taking a year out to study Blacksmithing in Hereford and Teaching Art History and Sculpture for a number of years.
I’m currently phasing out of an extended period of full time employment in education and reawakening my making side which has been somewhat dormant for a while. This will also include developing a range of creative courses, including welded sculpture and small scale bronze casting.
