Nicola Axe Sculptor Bio

I create large and small scale bespoke stone sculptures for the garden and interiors. The main body of my work is figurative carving of serene god heads and yoga mudra forms inspired by Asian buddhist art. My inspirations are the sculptors Modigliani and Brancusi. Other designs are inspired by natural shell and fossil forms and I have created a series of sea-life animals in serpentine and alabaster, including octopi, rays, turtles and sea jellies. More recent work is developing in the form of abstract landscapes.
Among other places I regularly exhibit at Delamore Arts near Ivybridge. My studio at Cockington Craft Centre is open to visitors most days (except Saturday/ Tuesday) Stone carving courses are taught in my studio, max 2 people per class. Gift vouchers are available. Sculpture can be purchased directly from my studio and I'm happy to discuss commissions. I am also an active member of the South West Sculptors group.
