Always an artist, only recently giving myself that title and stepping into my truth. I am a self-taught artist, born and bred in South Devon, whose practice has undergone a profound evolution over just four years at the age of 42, when I finally found the courage to pursue what I always knew I was.
While my roots remain in the landscape of my home, my current work marks a shift into exploratory mixed media, where hours of dedicated life drawing meet the freedom of semi-abstraction.
My creative process remains deeply intertwined with my connection to music. I also find daily inspiration in the rhythm of the written word, the complexity of human interaction, and the internal landscape of thoughts and feelings. My work strives to transcend the visual, capturing not just how a subject looks, but the visceral way it feels.
Drawing from the bold, decorative intensity of Gustav Klimt and the raw psychological territory and expressive lines of Egon Schiele. I continue to find a deep resonance in the independent female spirits of Georgia O’Keeffe, Frida Kahlo, and Barbara Hepworth. This lineage of radical female artists fuels my own growing sense of self, driving me to create work that is as unapologetic as it is evocative.
