Martin Goold is an award-winning contemporary artist based in Devon. He was born and grew up in London and studied Fine Art at Chelsea School of Art, completing a Post Graduate MA. He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions across the UK for over thirty-five years and his works have been regularly selected for competitive curated exhibitions. In 2018 he was elected as a member of the Pastel Society and in 2025 he was awarded membership of the National Acrylic Painters' Association.
Experience of place is central to Martin's artistic activity. The encounter with natural and urban landscape sets in motion a myriad of associations and prompts.
His working processes involve a discourse between abstraction and figuration, often bringing together carefully measured graphic techniques with adventurous spontaneous gesture.
