Marion Adams has lived in south Devon for most of her life. Guided by an ethic of care, sustainability and non-harm, Marion Adams transforms paper, recycled packaging, reclaimed fabric, thread, and plant pigment and fibres into fragile sculptural and collaged structures that explore connection, rupture and repair.
Working with the rhythm of the seasons, she creates botanical inks and natural dyes from locally foraged plants and everyday organic materials, grounding her practice in ecological cycles of growth, decay and renewal.
Through slow processes of staining, layering, piercing, weaving and stitching, she investigates how bodily, ecological and relational systems hold under strain, adapt through disruption, and remain permeable to change.
Through metaphor and symbolic abstraction, the work remains open to multiple subjective and contextual readings, inviting viewers to bring their own histories and interpretations to the encounter.
Working across collage, sculpture, ephemeral assemblage and photography, she develops a visual language of fragility, repetition and repair, tracing the tensions between containment and vulnerability, resilience and fragility, and structure and breakdown.
Nothing is wasted; the smallest scraps are gathered and reconfigured into new structures, surfaces and connective systems, which may themselves be fragmented and remade.
Rooted in reciprocity with material and environment, the work reveals resilience as a form of interdependence and vulnerability as a mode of authentic presence.
Marion's work has been exhibited by Artizan Gallery (English Riviera Winter Open 2020, Small Works Exhibition 2021, English Riviera Summer Open 2021, English Riviera Winter Open 2021), Fibre Arts Take Two (Reflections, 2022, and Place, Displace, Replace, 2023), London-based gallery The Holy Art (virtual exhibition: The Metamorphosis) and online gallery Fragile Express. She also works collaboratively with poet and artist Francesca Yates (A Time to Dance, 2022 and By Divine Design, 2023). She has had her own poetry featured alongside her mixed media art at Bovey Paradiso (The Art of Poetry, 2024), and in 2025, she was a finalist in the international juried exhibition ‘Time Well Spent’ organised by Take Two.
