Madalen Dixon's Workshop
I am a painter and sculptor in residence at Powderham Castle.
From my studio in the castle I create experimental works that celebrate the beauty of nature and female form.
To create unique pieces I combine my award winning background in fashion, graphic and prop design.
Using oils, watercolours, woodwork and found/reworked items my work aims to present a visual unification of nature and humanity, a reminder that humankind are a part of nature and nature is a part of humankind. To this end my work often invokes folklore, which exists in the space between science’s explanation and humankind’s perception of natural phenomenon. The perfect synonym for human and nature co-dependence.
