Laura Darling is an artist and writer. She works in oils with marks made in pastel and pencil to capture atmosphere, space and silence and looks for lines of light, slivers of colour that draw the eye and pull the viewer into the scene. She is drawn to northern light and a sense of geographical form, exploring the bones of the land below, the feeling of the weather above and the paths that people make.
She’s also interested in still life and the joy of concentrating on the form and colour of well-used objects, fruit and flowers; the beauty of small things.
She is leading a landscape painting course in 2026 and hopes to continue this in more venues as time allows.
She exhibits in Sussex, Devon and London and graduated from the Art Academy in London in 2021 where she studied painting. She’s a member of the international arts organisation ArtCan, was shortlisted for the Jackson’s Painting Prize and selected for the RBA Bicentennial.
