From my tentative first steps into watercolour painting ten years ago I have been on a journey with my art practice. I am currently experimenting with blended digital imagery Inkjet printed on fabric combined with altered substrates. Photographs with my iPhone capture a moment in time which I layer and blend to create unique images.
For me the process of making is just like the organic growth I observe in the woods. I build up surfaces using digital imagery, altered fabrics, papers, hand and machine stitching and found objects. Most importantly my work looks at what happens when our human world collides with the wilderness. By stitching discarded aluminium cans, crisp packets and rusted barbed wire directly alongside weathered driftwood and autumn leaves I explore the concept of ecological reclamation. My art looks at what happens when our human world collides with the natural world. You will find native wildlife dissolving into the landscape they call home together with the human figure asking whether we are merely visitors in nature or deeply woven into its fabric.
