BARNSTAPLE drawing, metal, mixed media, sculpture North DevonI have come later in life to my own creativity having worked for arts festival and arts centers since 2001. My work explores is an expression of freedom in wire as a sculptural drawing medium, shaped into forms. They are delicate, expressive, and sometimes mischievous. By bending, twisting, and weaving simple strands of wire, I transform a simple material into pieces that spark curiosity and delight.
My work is inspired by the birds of the local landscape both moorland and estuary. Careful observation informs a series of wire studies that capture their posture, movement, and character.
Some pieces aim for lifelike detail, while others are more playful, with exaggerated gestures that suggest personality. Through the light, linear quality of wire, each sculpture explores movement, balance, and imagination.
