4 Brunenburg Way
Axminster drawing, mixed media, painting, printmaking East DevonI started ‘ Art’ when I lived part time in Florida. You can’t spend all your time in Disney or on the beach. The culture on the Gulf Coast very very arty and it encourages people to be creative, there are lots of art trails and easy access workshops and courses available to visitors and non-residence There is a very big music scene there too and that’s is something I am involved too being part of 2 choirs and a vocal trio. I learnt to draw with pastels while in Florida. I am a self-taught artist, as in I learn by trial and error mostly even though I have done quite a lot of workshops and courses like most of us do. I am a member of The Art Society Seaton and I am on their committee, I am also the demonstrations coordinator which gives me the opportunity to meet lots of very good artists who come and show us how it’s done on the regular basis.
My art in its self has evolved and I’ve become much more confident in it, feeling that I can create for the sake of art, rather than worrying whether it’s good or bad and I’m happy to have a go at most subjects apart from still life. My latest venture has taken me into abstract art which really was quite enlightening and has become something of a favourite of mine and I seemed to well, winning a category in one exhibition and selling a couple of pieces I love doing portrait painting and life drawing. I love working in bright colours, am happy to work in, or at least try most mediums.
I struggle with watercolour if I’m honest, but I think it’s because I’m a bit heavy-handed and perhaps too brutal to work with such a delicate paint such watercolour. I’m really excited about taking part in the open studios and I have created an art wall or a very large canvas which will become my record of the visitors that come to see me I will ask people to make their mark on my canvas and be influenced by what’s already there or by what is their sweet spot. Please feel to email me to check on anything you may want to know before your visit.
