Gay Kent Bio

Since completing my BA in Fine Art at Falmouth University in 2004, I have immersed myself in the fascinating world of printmaking and collage. The great John Cage challenged us to ‘bend with uncertainty’ and ‘negotiate with chance’ and these statements describe my journey through the labyrinth of the many printmaking processes. I am interested in the sense of quietness and stillness created by a room or interior space. In the domestic interior familiar objects can develop a life and energy of their own and the viewer can weave their own story around an empty chair or a bed. An intuitive sense of colour is incredibly important to me and the use of soft pastels over etchings or mono-prints has become an integral part of my practice.
