Moving from the South East to North Devon during lockdown was a brave choice but necessary to help improve my mental health. As someone who has spent their entire working life in an office my husband was taken aback when I requested art supplies for Christmas in 2021. I had never painted before; but the scenery here had ignited something within me. I feel lucky and privileged to live a short distance from wonderful beaches, villages and landscapes. Watercolour was the first medium I used starting with landscapes and my detailed Clovelly works. I then moved on to acrylic on canvas which I found liberating, although I am fastidious about detail. A friend suggested I produce prints and present my original works for sale. I am now actively joining local groups and applying for stalls at local markets and shows - a massive step for someone who is uncomfortable in social environments. Painting has much improved my mental health and self-esteem; I have discovered a new me in my mid-60s. Thank you for your interest.
