Braunton painting North Devon

Amy Jobes Art Bio

Since becoming a professional artist, I have been developing a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of all life, a luminous truth which I aim to weave into every layer of my paintings.

The huge skies and grand expanses of my local North Devon beaches evoke feelings of connection with both our delicate and beautiful natural world, and the mysterious aspects of our higher consciousness.

Emotions recalled by these experiences inspire me to paint, and each piece is an authentic celebration of the joy experienced when we connect with nature.

Although the foundation of my practice is based on traditional methods, I prefer to work intuitively to create evocative impressionistic oil paintings.

I always say my best works tend to paint themselves! I am merely a vessel for the art to come into being.

During the open studios event I will be showing works in progress, so you will be able to see first hand my experiments with mark making, texture and collage.

My fine art cards and a full range of open and limited edition prints will be available. Completed originals will also be on display, with selected works available for sale.

I work from my log cabin studio which is nestled in the back garden of our home which is just a ten minute drive from Saunton Beach. The beautiful Croyde, Putsborough and Woolacombe Beaches are only a little further, and the villages Braunton, Croyde and Woolacombe have lots of lovely cafes and interesting independent shops to explore when you visit.

I am opening my studio on the weekends of the event, and the Fridays too.

If you would like to visit other art venues, Blindwell Space is just a stone's throw from my house, and Echo Beach Gallery, who display collections of my original paintings, is 20 minutes away and next to Damien Hirst's Verity in Ilfracombe.

The Open Studios Event last year was such a joy to be part of and I'm really looking forward to opening my art space again this year.

I look forward to meeting you!
