Almut Woolard Bio

After teaching sculpture and crafts for 20 years in a school, I am now working independently as artist and tutor. My art is inspired by the ever changing and evolving forms in nature and the seasons. Animals and the development of plant forms are a constant inspiration for me to create pure forms. Working wood with traditional hand tools and techniques is a very rewarding experience. Each piece of wood is differed and carving is an inspiring conversation with the unique piece of living material.
Teaching is the joy of sharing experiences and learning from each other.
I regularly give woodcarving courses in my Buckfastleigh studio.
