Join artists Gill Melling and Rachael Allain for conversation, tea and cake as the residency period of their projects nears its end.
During September and October, Gill and Rachael have been in their temporary studio spaces at the gallery, out on location around the Bay, having conversations with residents, visitors and partners, and starting to produce work that will inform their final showcase exhibition next year to be hosted at our Fleet Street Gallery.
Come along to hear first-hand about their time here in the Bay exploring the Geopark and to view work produced so far.

CULTURAL ENTANGLEMENTS IN MARINE ENVIRONMENTS
Artist Gill Melling continues her exploration of the human impact and reliance on marine biodiversity, through the lens of communities and environments of the English Riviera UNESCO Global Geopark.
Her resultant residency art series will evolve through local conversations and observations, creating mixed media “entanglements” combining reclaimed, “natural” and human processed materials.

ABOVE AND BELOW
Rachael, who is currently completing a PhD in Art & Media at the University of Plymouth, will be producing a new body of work in still and moving image responding to thresholds above and below the horizon of the English Riviera, UNESCO Global Geopark. Her interest in the diverse aquatic environments of the southwest region and beyond, will inform works that look at the micro and macro of our waters, considering our seagrass meadows, sea caves, plankton and the diversity of life teeming in our oceans.
GEOPARK ARTIST RESIDENCY PROGRAMME
The Geopark Artist Residency programme is a series of artist residencies delivered by Artizan Collective in partnership with Torre Abbey and the English Riviera UNESCO Global Geopark, that aims to reveal narratives about our Geopark home through the creation of four new collections of work produced by Devon based visual artists and creative professionals.
