You will have found Open Studios in almost every type of location, private homes, garden sheds, cafes, galleries and more besides, some on high streets and industrial estates and others with staggering views of coast and countryside. The art and craft was just as varied and interesting as the artists with a wide variety of experience and inspiration. Part of the fun of Devon Open Studios is uncovering artwork you’ll fall in love with in unexpected places.
What they always have in common is the wonderful welcome.
Our yellow signs, out and about the county every September, guide visitors to our artists’ doors.
Each year you’ll find a calendar of open dates on each venue’s web page. If you can’t attend on the days shown, most venues will be happy to arrange a visit or have a conversation at an alternative time, even year-round, get in touch direct to enquire.
Each area begins with an overview map, which indicates the general location of each venue so you can see where clusters of artists are located. It should be used in conjunction with a road map, web mapping or SatNav to pinpoint the venue’s precise location. Each venue’s entry also provides detailed local directions and our black and yellow directional arrows are flagged up before the event every year to point the way to a studio as you get close to it. Tourist Information Centres can also be a great source of local knowledge and can help you to locate participating studios.
Please check the individual venue listing on the Devon Open Studios website pages for specific venue opening times.
