PROFILE
I have worked as an artist/ craftsman all my life specializing in ceramics. Since retirement I have given up my kiln for Hardedge abstract painting which I fell in love with as an art student. As a complete contrast I also like the challenge that loose watercolour painting demands.
My abstract work is based on geometric icons; which are angular shapes repeated, reversed and turned until a harmonious balance is found between the positive and negative areas; giving a sense of rightness. Inspiration can come from landscape, architecture, shadows, reflections and subconscious years of observation. I love the process of working with acrylic paints and sprays; and the dynamic reaction of mood evoking flat colour plains.
Most of my work is based on 1m x 1m canvases, which are ideal for interior design schemes.
