Solo exhibition of contemporary landscape and seascape paintings by Josie Gould.
Birdwood House Gallery, 48 High St, Totnes, TQ9 5SQ. 10am – 5pm daily.
I love to paint, especially outdoors, immersing myself in the sensory qualities of light and colour, to catch the pulse and poetics of the Devon and Cornwall land, coast and sea. I aim to evoke these numinous qualities, the spirit, vitality and zest of life, in my oil and mixed media paintings.
I am curious. I spend my time wandering, wondering, standing and sitting; gathering the dancing sunlight and fleeting shadows, the splash and ripple of rivers, wind whispering in trees, veils of colour traversing land, sparkles of sunlight crossing seas and the glow of arriving, breathless dawns. Momentary delights, reminding me that unlimited joys flow in an ever changing world and that all is well.
William Blake suggests in the poem Eternity, ‘… He who kisses the joy as it flies, Lives in eternity’s sunrise,’ and I too love to share these joyous moments with you in this exhibition.
