Commission Opportunity – Exeter Library

Location: Exeter Library

Commissioner: Exeter Library, Libraries Unlimited

Budget: £500

Overview:

Exeter Library, operated by the charity Libraries Unlimited, is seeking a talented local artist to create a vibrant and engaging piece of art for our children’s section. This commission is to celebrate the life of Ted, a beloved two-year-old who recently passed away. Ted had a great love for the library, especially our Bounce and Rhyme sessions. He adored tractors and had a cherished cuddly toy, a soft dog.

Project Details:

  • Medium: Wood – or any suitable material
  • Style: Extremely colourful, using primary colours
  • Themes: Incorporate elements that reflect Ted’s favorite things—tractors and his soft dog toy. The piece should not directly reference Ted by name.
  • Durability: The piece should be designed to stand the test of time

Requirements:

  • The artwork should be engaging and suitable for a children’s area.
  • It should evoke a sense of joy and celebration, reflecting Ted’s spirit.
  • The final piece should be sturdy and safe for interaction by young children.
  • Ideally, the piece should be able to attach to a wall.

Budget and Fee:

  • The total budget for the project is £500
