Significant Seams is an arts and wellbeing orientated social enterprise offering support and camaraderie to artists anxious about exhibiting. Our previous experiences in Art Trail programmes have been massively empowering and we are keen to develop new friendships and potential collaborations through Devon Open Studios and would welcome artists to consider co-exhibiting with us.
We have a beautiful, relaxed garden based set of spaces in mid-Devon, just outside of Crediton. The venue offers a pole barn, a stone potting shed, a two room workshop area, including (dye studio) kitchen area and various outdoor spaces with trees and lawn areas. One area is alongside a vsmall stone village church. There is also a greenhouse but its use is already reserved.
We plan to be open on four days (15, 16, 22 & 23 September) but are open to discussing additional dates if we have a large enough contingent of artists to share the hosting and proctoring. We have paid for use of the village church car park during open studios on behalf of artists and visitors.
The venue lends itself to creative installation options and artworks that can be outside, especially sculpture. However 2-d artworks on easels and pieces on plinths could fit in wonderfully. We can create an art trail through the garden with ability to move things to the barn in case of inclement weather.
Thematically, we are partial to nature, mental health, community and textiles, but with participation in open studios we are keen to support each other and welcome all enquiries.
